Bye Bye Artic Ice

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 10:23 am

2007 has already broken the record for the lowest amount of sea ice ever recorded, say scientists, smashing the old record set in 2005.
Currently, there are about 1.63 million square miles of Arctic ice, according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colo. That is well below the record of 2.05 million square miles set two summers ago and could drop even lower before the final numbers are in.

Peak Oil

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 7:24 am

Sometimes I wonder whats gotten into me. An angel whispering in my ear, maybe. I’ve watched ¨The Day After Tomorrow” too many times.
Maybe it’s because I grew up in the oilfield business. I remember being 16. I got a new car for my birthday, paid for
in cash
by my parents… from oil money. My parents owned an oilfield construction company. They were the ones that prepared the site for the rigs to drill oil. So we were lucky, we were almost always paid. The people drilling for oil had to pay us no matter if they found oil or not. Then in the late 80’s early 90’s my parents gave up, sold off everything and quit - at a huge loss I might add. They still had business coming in but because of the drop in oil prices and lack of drilling many people just quit paying for work done. They were old enough at the time that they just retired and they had half interest in an oil well that’s kept them very comfortable ever since.

Munday(ne)

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 11:22 pm

Today was excrutiatingly boring. After work and seeing Philissa this morning, it was all naps, food, and reading. I think it was a reaction to the 20 degree drop in temperature overnight…
Anyways, I suppose I’ll be all rested for a full day tomorrow. I did find some joy in harvesting the random veggies in my garden (in october!) this afternoon… Some carrots, parsnips, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and beets. These were all very small because I hadn’t (against Michelle’s good advice) thinned these out at the beginning of the season… which is probably why I’m seeing a crop now. Next year.

Should You Eat Only Raw Foods?

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 6:22 am

If you are doing research into diets, you may come across one that tells you to only eat raw foods. While this diet is good in theory, it may not be practical for most people. Raw foods are often the best for your health however, and they should be a part of any diet. Not only are raw foods full of nutrients, they are also readily available in most stores where you buy groceries. As with any food, however, there are some safety issues.
