Last Night’s Vegan/Raw/Macro Potluck

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 9:22 am

, a travel company specializing in vegan and raw vacations to non-touristy areas, invited me to a potluck last night. I brought a Coconut Creme Pie that was the first dish to disappear. I can’t believe I didn’t take a picture of it. It never crossed my mind. It was, however, quite attractive, if I say so myself. First, the ingredients (modified, from the Candle Cafe Cookbook):
Macaroon Crust
(cooked): Spelt flour, organic coconut, maple syrup, organic almonds, organic carrots, arrowroot, almond extract, sunflower oil, egg replacer, lemon zest

Musique.

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 6:22 am

Music is currently taking over my life at an unexpected rate. I have an incredible amount of ideas and inklings that are forcing me to compose piece after piece, night after night. My music has become very emotionally cathartic for me. I feel as if I am literally purging my feelings onto music. Every track that I record, is live.
Speaking of live. My show is next month and I am going utterly insane. I am such a recluse and the thought of expressing my most vunerable side, publicly, is haunting me day and night. Often times when I re-listen to a piece, emotional overwhelms me again and I find myself throwing myself onto the nearest piece of furniture and sobbing my heart out.

getting my act together…

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 7:22 pm

Today I plan on starting a three day water fast. I need to clear out my system. I’ve been 100% raw vegan for about six months now-I had a couple of slip-ups, but hey-I’m human! I started 100% and didn’t cheat once for about five months…but then my hummus cravings and dating led me to allow myself a few nights of mischief….uhhhhhhhh I hated it! Sure it tasted amazing, but I pay for it for several days afterward. I lose my high, that sexy ooo-la-la feeling you get when your floating around in a white summer dress on a sunny day-the rays of sunlight dancing across your bare back…your bronzed skin glowing….it all vanishes the second I put something cooked in my mouth. I feel like I swallowed poison-sweet, addictive poison. But so not worth it. Thats why I stopped. I have such an addictive personality-with me it’s all or nothing. I can’t even touch sugar or caffeine or it’s all I think about all day…so I don’t. Good riddance anyway right? But enough about that-I’ve been 100% raw vegan for half a year now and only slipped up around three times-I feel AMAZING!!! My skin glows, my body looks and feels incredible…my teeth are whiter…it really isn’t a diet-I could never imagine going back to eating cooked foods-and give up my high? Not for anything…But I do need to get my act together. I have been leaning toward a fruitarian diet lately-eating mostly sweet fruit. Mostly? I meant only, unless the occassional cucumber counts…I have a love affair with fruit. Bananas, Mangos, Peaches, Figs, Pineapples…I could go on forever…but I need to be more selective. Some things just don’t agree with my body, like cherries. I LOVE cherries! My body doesn’t. I feel terrible when I eat them-I would think it’s all the pesticides, but I’ve tried organic and it’s not much better for me. Grapes, Strawberries, any berries for that matter…and avocados and dates. These are all the wonderful things I love that kill my high when I eat them. And onions, garlic, spices, and salt. These aren’t so hard for me to give up though. I tell myself, if you know they don’t make you feel good then just don’t eat them. 90% of the time this works…so my new goal is to reach 100%. Starting today. I need to drink more water. I know I get plenty from all the fruit, but I feel better when I drink lots of water. So I will….and exercise…..ughhh….I feel so good once I’m actually doing it-it’s just dragging myself to do it…haha…I’m sure many people can relate….I make excuses like ‘I really don’t neeeeeed to-I eat a healthy diet, and I walk practically everywhere’…plus I was blessed with naturally toned legs, which I use as an excuse as to why I don’t need to run. I’m terrible. But I want my arms to be more defined, so that settles it-I’m going to the gym. I get addicted to going to the gym also-so all I really need to do is start going and in no time I’ll be pulling 2 hour sessions. And then wearing myself out and stopping altogether. I need to find balance. A medium. But those are my goals-drink more water and exercise…I also need to start eating more greens again, make green smoothies!!! And get my sleep cycle back to normal-I’m an early riser but lately I’ve been staying up way too late and waking up at around 8:30. Today it was more like 10:30. Normally I wake up at 6:30 every day. I need to get back on track…..

Creamy Sea Salad

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 7:22 pm

Finding delicious recipes that include sea vegetables can sometimes be tricky. Dulse seems to be one the few sea vegetables that most people like and is extremely high in much needed minerals. This salad is one of those where you can feel the goodness pumping through your veins. I LOVE this recipe!
Ingredients
* 3/4 head of lettuce (any type, though you’ll need 2-3 heads if using Little Gem lettuce)

Regular Meetings and Events

"The gathering of people is what most frightens oppressive government. Wherever freedom reigns in the world, there is open communication amongst people. When we gather, we gain power. When we fail to gather, we only fail ourselves. Therefore, let us not forsake the gathering of ourselves together. It is as vital now as it has ever been." - Jay North
[Wow… When I started this service there were only 4 or 5 listings! How the movement has grown!]

Chicken soup for the soul - Making centerpiece wreaths out of dried flowers

Filed under: Uncategorized — health @ 11:33 am

This is a calming activity, and encourages proper thought processes.
Centerpiece Wreaths, Table Wreaths, Rings represents the type of information and offerings that are much needed. years ago people used to get books from libraries and learn valuable hobbies that benefitted them, others, and even their pocketbook. Let’s take advantage of the internet to accomplish the same ends. These decorative wreaths, often used at weddings and social functions, liven up the table, present an elegant and professional atmosphere, and sooth the mind. They are fun to make, rewarding to give to others, and can be sold. Best of luck to all who pursue a wholesome hobby.

Good morning from Balcony Camp! For those new, I’ve taken to frequently sleeping on my balcony overlooking the coast of Malibu .. which is visible today after many very gray, overcast mornings recently .. yay! I clip blankets to the railing for privacy (it’s over a busy street, lots of cars and people passing) and sleep on a zero gravity chair I just love. Since getting this chair a few weeks ago, I eat, play online, listen to music, read, watch DVDs, etc. out here, have my water, phone, etc. next to me … this is my idea of camping. :) Because I hadn’t been out here in years (depression), it’s like I moved - to a great place (cuz I forgot for a long time that I’m at the beach :/ ). I have a fortunate schedule so have several days off and lots of cancellations next week - and am going to pretend I’m on vacation. To see a photo of the view (on a clearer day), go to: http://rcssvb.blogspot.com/ … oh, it’s above now - since this got so long.
