Current mood: naked and famous and i want to touch it ahhhhhh…..it’s been a fantasm of a week (that’s not spelled incorrectly, trust me).  we went to the institute of art and looked at old ass paintings that were cool as hell… many bootleg pictures taken.  we went to millenium park and laid down under the giant mirror bean and took pictures.  we went thrift store shopping and bought lots of books.  we ate puerto rican food in a puerto rican restaurant in a puerto rican neighborhood.  we went to a party at a coop with a bunch of hippy freaks who were really nice.  we played a small set list at an open mic night, and so did Kelley who sings with swankiness.  we danced to the tanuktanukta song in kelley’s kitchen.  we saw Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind, a series of 30 2-minute plays performed in random order by the whims of the audience at hand…good show, great wit.  we had incredible thai food made by kelley, we had incredible chicago pizza in a weird ass bowl configuration.  we ate at Karyn’s raw restaurant where we ate a wide variety of interesting raw vegan cuisines.  we rode many buses and walked a ton and loved it.  we met Mark, Kelley’s german friend from Mexico. he was awesome and interesting and fun.  We met Sara and Michelle, Kelley’s friends from chicago.  And we met a new friend, Hari, at the open mic night, who hung out with us a few more times over the weekend.  He was a blast too.  We went dumpster diving in rich people’s trash.  Rich people throw away the most amazing things.  We had the best week ever, and we can’t wait to go back.

Monthly Report for April

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 8:22 pm

NOTE - This months weight and waist size readings did not account for the entire month. I did not purchase a scale and begin recording these measurements until my first weekly weigh in on 4/8/2007. I have used that weight and waist size as the starting values for this month. I have no idea what my weight or waist size was on 4/1/2007. This means I could have lost more weight or inches around my waist than accounted for in this report. Oh well, I can only work with what I have, right? However, I do know that on 4/1 and 4/2 I was 70% raw both days, so I have counted the raw percentage for those days in these statistics.

Daily Update 4/30

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 6:22 pm

My fruit smoothie at breakfast encountered an accident. I went to shake in some hemp seed powder and a whole bunch came pouring out. It cascaded all down through the pitcher coating all the fruit. Rather than washing it all off, I tried to scrape off the excess and hope for the best. It tasted gritty and not too good. I grabbed a banana and headed out with my wife who was going to a cafe to grab a quick breakfast. I ordered a side of melon slices which was 2 sliced rings each of cantaloupe, pineapple and honeydew. They also had some various fresh squeezed fruit juices available so I ordered a large orange/cranberry juice. It was a good breakfast, perhaps a bit on the light side however. I felt satisfied at least.

Feelin’ Amazing!

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 1:23 pm

I just wanted to share with all of you how incredible I feel after a decision I made about 5 days ago.
I decided to go 100% raw vegan.  That means raw veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds and sprouts.
Since then I have lost 10 pounds.  I no longer wake up feeling depressed.  I have way more energy, and a really positive outlook on life.
I’m amazed at what sugar addiction can do to a person over a long period of time.  I came to realize that I was totally and completely addicted to sugar.  I started doing  research into the effects of it and came up with an eye-opening epiphany.  Sugar had it’s hold on me in a scary way.  I was really starting to go down hill fast with my health.

Weekly Update 4/23 to 4/29

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 11:22 pm

Well, not as big of a drop as last week. Looking back so far at the last 4 weeks, it seems like I lose a good amount of weight one week, then the next week there is not much of a change. It will be interesting to see if this continues to be the case going forward.
My Monthly Report for April will be tomorrow. I was tempted to just go ahead and post it with these numbers, but I’ll go ahead and wait until tomorrow night to do that. I am targeting the whole month of May at 100% raw. So far the longest I have made it is my current 8 day stretch I am on now!

The Diet that Produced this Body Forget what…

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 11:22 pm

Forget what you’ve heard. You don’t need animal protein. That is simply cooked flesh covered in irradiated feces. It is pain and death, and nasty bacteria. Stay away from it, and encourage all friends and family to do the same if they truly care about their bodies.
Plant protein is where its at. It easily assimilated into the body, and since its not cooked (cooking destroys 50% of protein…REMEMBER THAT!) every little bit is taken in by the body.

Daily Update 4/29

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 8:22 pm

I spent the afternoon and early evening at my Dads house today, so I had a late dinner. Because it was so late I decided I would limit my dinner to just a green smoothie since it would be so quick to digest.
The Green for Life book came up while talking today, he said he had not read it yet. We chatted for a bit about our comparative diets however. He may read it, I think it is not a priority for him however.

Partial Hysterectomy

Filed under: raw vegan — health @ 4:22 pm

About 11 years ago, after having my twins, I decided to get my tubes tied. I thought this was a good decision because I was young (about 24) and I was now a mother of four. I just knew my baby making days were over. Well about four years ago, I got pregnant again. I would have never thought it was possible. I missed a period, I was in a lot of pain in my right arm. But I didn’t make a connections with the two. I mean, I had missed one before because of a cyst. As far as the pain goes, I was a 290 pound woman. I just figured it was a heart attack.
